Driver (Part Time)



FUNCTION

The Driver assists individuals with disabilities with transport to and from employment.

REPORTABILITY

Reports directly to: Program Director of Vocational Services

Supervisor Responsibilities: Provides support and guidance to participants seeking employment opportunities.

RESPONSPONSIBILITES

Ensures passenger and vehicle safety by:

  • Adherence to the rules of the road at all times (i.e. speed limits, etc.)
  • Making daily checks to the assigned vehicle according to the procedures outlined in the Van Driver Manual.
  • Prompt reporting of vehicle safety or maintenance concerns to the Transportation Manager.
  • Prompt reporting of passenger issues, i.e. illness or behavioral issues to the Transportation Manager.
  • Implements Emergency Evacuation Procedures as needed.

Knowing and following the procedures set forth in the Van Driver Manual.

Maintain a valid public service license and an accident and violation free driving record.

Knowing and following the policies and procedures put forth in the organization's personnel handbook.

Perform other driving assignments as directed by the Program Director of Vocational Services.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director of Vocational Services.

Attend and maintain all required trainings.

CORE COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have, or be able to acquire a State of CT Public Service License.
  • Have a clean driving record.
  • Ability to relate effectively and positively with a diverse clientele.
  • Ability to assure safety as a priority in transporting any and all passengers.
  • Ability and experience to safely operate agency vehicles.
  • Ability to be flexible to effectively meet changing conditions.
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.

This is a part-time, non-exempt position starting at $17.77 per hour.
